Work on the contract is expected to start next year and is due to be completed by the end of 2011.
“I am delighted that Chevron has awarded this contract to Boskalis. This project fits well within our strategic focus on the oil and gas market segment and our expansion into marine contracting activities,” Boskalis chief executive officer Peter Berdowski said.
The Kellogg joint venture, which consists of KBR, JGC, Clough and Hatch, is the engineering, procurement and construction management contractor for the downstream and logistics areas of the Gorgon project.
Meanwhile, Dow Jones quoted Chevron chief executive officer David O’Reilly as saying that he expects more LNG sales and purchase agreements from the Gorgon project to be signed in the coming months.
He added that the supermajor’s investments in Australia could make the country as big a profit driver for the company in 2020 as its US operations were now.
